This year’s GÜMSABA Holiday Challenge is about giving – giving to others and giving back to yourself!  It is NOT about deprivation.  This challenge starts Monday, November 25, 2013, and is open to the public as well as members of Gumsaba.To enter the Holiday Challenge, fill in the fields below and donate $20 to the charity pot. Deadline to sign up is 11/22

The person with the most points will choose the charity to which we dedicate all of the funds from the pot. 



The Challenge: get your points

1 ) Keep a daily  journal  – create online for FREE at penzu or purchase a simple journal.  Keep track of the challenges below every day and every day write one positive feeling or experience you had. Keep the journal every day for the 30 days and get 30 points!  Each days entry is worth 1 point. 

2) Work OUT. Each workout is worth 3 points (maximum 18 points per week).  Workouts are a dedicated time period of at least one hour and can be anything as strenuous as boot camp or as simple as a hike or yoga!  Jot down your workouts in your journal.  Need a workout?  Visit the gumsaba blog – full workouts will be posted daily for the challenge.

3) Volunteer for a local charity.  Each volunteer session worth 15 points!!!  Record in your journal. Maximum of 45 points on this one – but please feel free to note the additional in your journal. If its a tie this could break it!

4) Your BIG DREAM. Somewhere in your journal create one page (or more!) titled BIG DREAM.  During the challenge, write down one or more goals you want to accomplish in 2014.  Aim high, dream BIG and don’t hold back.  Your big dream is worth 10 points! 

5) Meditate.  Each session is worth 2 points!  Minimum of 10 minutes; there is no maximum.  Click here for meditation resources. Record in your journal.

 Completed journal submission: Please submit your journal to Coach Michelle at class on 12/24 or MAIL it to to the PO BOX below. You have until 12/31 to turn your journal in. You can also complete your journal online for FREE at penzu – its awesome!  Email it to

Note: We purposefully left out food and drink.  It is the time of year to celebrate with friends and family.  Depriving ourselves can backfire so please continue to prioritize health and focus on moderation.  If you need guidance to stay on track through the holidays an beyond, please contact our nutrition expert Dina Colman so that you get a custom plan that will work for you.
