We can always think of reasons why not to do things. We are tired, we are busy, we are depressed, we don’t feel like it. In these times remember to be thankful for your health and do what you need to do to stay healthy anyway, regardless of how you feel about it! On Sunday I was feeling a little down on myself, so I asked Chad to take a bike ride with me. I talked to him as we rode along, and he bounced back ideas and feelings of his own. I know that if anyone wants my happiness as much as I do its Chad. I value his love so much and that bike ride was a wonderful affirmation of why I picked him for life!
Many times when we are sad we reach in and close down. Try reaching out. Call on a friend or family member in times of need. All of us go through doubt and angst. The fact that someone relates to you can make all the difference in the world.
Changing your outlook when you are feeling negative isn’t easy. A positive mantra can also open some doors in your mind. When I was little my dad read a book called “You can’t afford the luxury of a negative thought”. He would say that all the time to the point where it annoyed me! That statement popped into my head, and every time I started to get poopy on Sunday I said it out loud. On Monday I felt better, not quite myself but still better. I decided that I needed a hike and a hard sweaty workout to finish of the dull drums and it worked.
There were a million reasons to Sunday pitfall, but I made conscious choices during the past couple days to not allow it. I felt sad and down because I really miss my mom and fighting that feeling used to leave me with feelings of guilt. I could have just holed up in bed and sulked through the week, but instead I chose not to do that consciously. I have too much to be thankful for and I really don’t have time to sulk. I love my work and I am so thankful for my clients – that is such a rare thing and I feel blessed. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping keep me accountable. I truly value the roll that each and every one of you plays in my life and I hope that you feel the appreciation I feel for you.
