Its amazing. The more you learn the less you realize that you know! Life is a beautiful thing because we can always learn and grow! Who wants to know it all anyway!?
This weekend at the TRX Training Summit I had the privilege of learning from many of the top trainers in the world. It was a priceless experience, filled with fun, learning, sweat, commitment, recommitment and ACTIVE PLANK! Thank you to Chris Frankel and Fraser Quelch for giving me more tools to get my clients movement based training to the next level.
One thing, among many, that was a real highlight for me on a mental level was this simple question: Do we want movement to create contraction or contraction to create movement? As a trainer, I know that the latter is correct. I want contraction to create controlled movement. If movement is creating contraction our body is not prepared to endure, our body loses durability over time. This is the path of injury.
Another major highlight from this weekend was working on the TRX Rip Trainer. I am SO excited to announce that Gumsaba is investing in 10 rip trainers! Not only is the rip trainer incredibly effective, it is SUPER FUN! While it is just a simple stick with a bungie cord, the drills we learned were fantastic. Thanks to Pete Holman for an awesome educational experience!
Heres a couple RIP training videos to wet your fitness palette!

Training the Trainer with Pete Holman – and the trainer is in a wheelchair!!! So inspiring! 🙂
Being excited about what you do is important. Many trainers train people but rarely have the chance to fuel their own tank. The summit this weekend was like rocket fuel for me. I can not wait to get my hands on you guys, get you back to basics and help you realize that you don’t have to be crying in pain to have an incredible functional workout! Remember, its not what you do, its HOW YOU DO IT.
Here’s to the power of people who inspire each other and cheers to those who leave this world a better place for having been here.
See you OUTSIDE! 🙂 COACH M
Can you spot me in the crowd? Hint…ACTIVE PLANK!
