It’s been a while since I wrote a poem. I often write lyrics, but poetry is different. It is a powerful way to get a message across and it is a tool that anyone can use to put life into perspective and “get out” of their own heads.

We have a very special community of people at Gumsaba. It is what separates us from those that simply exercise for physical health. Did you know that community is one of the highest markers of longevity?

I wrote this for those of you who may need a little light shed on your day. Never forget that we are here for each other. Count on each other for support in times of need, and shamelessly ask for emotional support! None of us is as strong as all of us.

Fear and doubt are a part of every day life. Whether we choose to focus on them or focus on positivity is our choice. There is, of course, a time to grieve and cry. But there is also a time to say, that’s it. This is MY life and I am going to be grateful!

 

When Gratitude Leads the Way – Michelle Brown

When the lows hit, and the highs seems so far away,

let gratitude be your guide.

It’s easy to say and harder to do,

just remember what goes around will come back too.

Keep your head up, hold strong to hope,

do the best you can in spite your load.

Believe in yourself,

have faith in your dreams.

Enjoy this moment before its a memory.

The sun shines brightest after the darkest night,

and possibilities thrive in open hearts and minds.

Count on each other for strength and support.

Be honest, be kind and you’ll become so much more.

Take one breath and one step, followed by another.

Be thankful for all that is your human wonder.

Doubts will challenge you now and then,

Just stay on the path and let fear become your friend.

Don’t run away, you’re stronger than that.

This is your life to LIVE. Enjoy the little time that you have.

When gratitude leads life makes more sense,

no matter what comes next you’re set up for success.
