What makes a great human is not what she does when everything is A OKAY, but what she does when things are not going her way. Our ability to overcome obstacles forges the person we are into the great individual we were meant to become. Learn to “take the ride” of life no matter how crappy it is. In times of great sorrow, stress or tension, picture yourself on a roller coaster. As you slide down into the depths of your mental strength, realize that your momentum will pull you back up. Let go and put your arms up. Cry it out, laugh when you can, do what you need to do to grow from the experience. Realize that without these slippery slopes you would not realize your power to rise again. Let the tears fall, they do it to help you heal.

Surround yourself with great people and great vibes. Fill your mind with great words. Listen to wonderful music. Cry. Laugh. Let go. Do things that challenge you beyond what you thought you were able. Take wise risks. Give to strangers. Take all of the emotions swirling around inside you and let them pour out into all things that you believe in.  This is how you build resilience. Whatever you do, don’t give up on you. You will be the inspiration for someone you know that needs the strength you have shown to find their path. Believe!

When Rosie passed two months ago today, I took the ride. I’m still on it. In spite of the pain I feel, I know I have become better for having let go, thrown up my hands and let life get in my face! I know my experiences can help others see light through the darkness if I share how I feel and what I am going through.
