Life is really tricky, just when you think you have hit your stride you get body slammed.

Look, its gonna happen. You will fall, you will get sick, bad things happen. So the question is, how do you handle it?  Will it set you back, or will you find a way to get through it a better person? The choice is yours.

I found out on Thursday that my leg has a stress fracture. Right in the midst of training for the Diablo Trails 10k! Right when I felt like I was hitting my stride. So, what am I going to do? Can you picture me moping around about it – getting into a bad state of mind throwing a pity party? Ah HELL NO!   I see this obstacle as a challenge. I WILL look on the bright side, I WILL get really great at my pull ups and push ups, and hell, I’m coming out of this with a better understanding of what I am capable of when I’m not 100%.

How do I keep my chin up after taking a hit? I have some “tough break” practices that help me along. Try them next time you falter…

MEN’S BOOT CAMP DANVILLE CA

1) Reread one of my Buddhist theology books.

2) Create 5 really tough workouts I can do in spite of my injury, and repeat them weekly until i can use my injured limb again.

3) Watch some short, funny videos, like this.

4) Count my blessings; my wonderful family, the fact that I HAVE LEGS.

5) Laugh at myself, I am only human

6) Take care of my injury, but do everything I can do without aggravating it!

7) Up my intake of dark leafy greens; that ALWAYS makes me feel better!

8) And again, I love to be reminded of the thrills of being human…
