We are always willing to take the long way, the hard way and do hard work to get places where most people won’t! Yesterday we traveled the “kings highway” to get to the unnamed beach. The “kings highway” isn’t quite as luxurious as it sounds. Its a 6′ wide trail through a massive lava field that was used by the ancient Hawaiians as a cattle transport trail. To think those people did this without shoes! The landscape is freaking fantastic, the harsh lava red and black, against the crystal clear blue of the sea and sky. The air couldn’t feel any fresher! Luckily we had some good cloud cover – I have a feeling that the lava fields turn into an oven in the baking sun. Enjoy the fun photos of our silly adventure.
