What we think on a moment to moment basis has a lot to do with the quality of our lives. If we spend time stressing about things that we can’t control we live like a dog chasing its own tail. When we tackle the things we can manage, we stop ruminating on the things that are out of our control. For example, if you are stressing about something that you said or did yesterday, instead, today say or do something to redeem your thoughts. Act in a positive way instead of bending over backwards on a negative. An example from me personally… I was told last night by a few wonderful clients that at classes I lately I seem “grumpy”. These clients were concerned about my well being and wanted to make sure I was “ok”. Now, I know most people are as chipper as a song bird all the time, especially at 5:30am,  but that just isn’t me. My sense of humor is dry, some might say it borders rude, I think I’m funny as hell even when I’m being a bitch. The “old me” would have felt bad about my “grumpiness”. I would have stressed about it all night, and woke up thinking of it and emailed everyone an apology. One of my resolutions for 2013 was a conscious decision to love myself for who I REALLY am; to stop being so hard on myself. So, instead of stressing,  I will simply do my best to not be a bitch at class. I’m not going to promise I’ll be bubbly, but I will do my best to not bite your head off if you shoot me “mystery face” after I have explained the drill more than enough times! Remember no one is perfect, all we can do is become better.
