When you love the smoky-sweet flavors of BBQ and you’re in the mood for tacos, what do you do? You make BBQ tacos of course! These Jackfruit Tacos are cholesterol free, refined oil free and oh so delicious. The classic BBQ flavors of the Jackfruit mixed with the sweet baked beans, tangy rainbow slaw and creamy dill potato salad give this dish a traditional Southern BBQ flare – just with a nice, healthy, plant-powered twist!
BBQ JACKFRUIT TACOS
Vegan, dairy free, gluten free, refined oil free

Yields 6-8 small tacos
TACO INGREDIENTS
- 1 medium red onion, sliced
- 1 package BBQ Jackfruit (by The Jackfruit Company)
- 1 tetra pack or can vegetarian baked beans (by Pacific Foods)
- Corn tortillas
- Add-ons:
TACO METHOD
- Prepare Rainbow Slaw and Potato Salad (click the links above for recipes), and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- In a large non-stick pan over medium heat, sauté sliced onion. Use a splash of water or veggie broth to prevent sticking. Caramelize onion for 3-5 minutes, or until lightly browned on the edges.
- Add package of Jackfruit, reduce heat to low-medium and cook for about 5 minutes, or until thoroughly heated through.
- Adjust seasonings to taste – add BBQ sauce and/or other seasonings, if desired.
- Meanwhile, heat up baked beans on the stovetop and warm the tortillas in a separate pan or in the oven.
- Assemble tacos with baked beans and BBQ Jackfruit, top with Southwestern Rainbow Slaw and serve with a side of Spot on Potato Salad. Enjoy!
