Well, I dont know about you, but the Olympics really get me excited! I LOVE to feel the passion and see all the hard work come to fruition. It doesnt make me just proud of my country, it makes me proud to be human. We truly are a special species, despite our insanity.

For me, the gymnastics really get me fired UP! Cant wait to watch them fly and push their minds and bodies to new levels under intense pressure.

In researching the London Olympics website, I came across something really special, the 2012 London Paralympics. Those of you who have been in my classes know the statement I often make when you look/feel tired. It’s something I often tell myself when I am giving up. “Some people dont have legs.” Few of you know that this quote comes from my mom. She was hit by a skier when I was 6 and broke both legs and several ribs. It wasn’t good to say the least. There were years of surgeries and wheel chairs and months (literally) in hospital beds. When I was afraid she might never walk again, she would say “Hey, some people don’t have legs!”. This statement stuck with me; deep down it struck a chord that made me appreciate my body with all its scrapes and scars, its unwanted this or that. It’s a way of telling myself that I should be thankful for what I have, for all the blessings in my life, because not everyone is so fortunate.

So let’s hear it for all the athletes, the ones who are blessed, and the ones who, by doing what most would think impossible, prove that the human mind is much more powerful and wonderful than we know.

Enjoy this amazing 2 weeks, and let it infuse you with belief in yourself, in others and in goodness that we as humans can exude.
