Does practicing meditation affect your cellular aging?  You betcha!

Does continuous meditation reshape your brain, so it’s better equipped to manage stress?  It surely does!

Does mindful meditation manage symptoms of cancer, heart disease and anxiety disorders?  Absolutely!

“Meditation is a means of transforming the mind”, according to the Buddhist Centre.  If you have ever practiced meditation, you may know exactly what is meant by this.  When you meditate, your mind is quiet, you are in a deep state of of relaxation, consciousness and wakefulness.

For many of us, quieting the mind is the biggest hurdle when it comes to meditation.  You may start reciting your to-do list, or have a strong tide of thoughts that seem to have unstoppable momentum, and that’s okay.  Meditation is about practice, not perfection.  When you start small, just 5 or 10 minutes a day every morning, you will begin to feel the lasting benefits of meditation – improved focused, enhanced internalized attention, reduced emotional responses and reduced stress.

Meditation comes in various types, from guided meditation, to Qi gong, yoga and Tai chi.  You don’t need to be an expert in mediation or sign up for a class to start practicing.  However, it does help to have someone with experience to guide you on your journey.  Headspace is a great, free meditation app that will give you the proper tools to get you going.  So, give it a go. Your body and soul will be happy you did.

To your health,

Coach Jentry
