Today I decide to pause, to add a meaningful and intentional moment before I act. I choose not to rush so I can see that which simply is. What I realize is an entirely new perspective. While I’m working as hard as I can to make it all happen, life is happening. And it’s pretty awesome to witness. The smell, the sights, the feelings, the smiles, the love, the random, the weird…the things I notice when I decide to pause are all meaningful in their own way. They all have a lesson to share. They need my attention just as much, maybe even more, than everything else I “need” to do.

We get caught up in the web of life – there is so much to think about, so many places to funnel our energy. Before we know it, the thinking and doing take over, and the living starts to be a constant stream of what is next and what the hell just happened?! Instead, I take pause. I absorb. I take in what is happening right now for exactly what it is. There is a reason I am here, now. A reason that only this little pause can reveal.

Both on a figurative and literal level, the pause is where life happens. It happens while we are waiting for it to happen. The pause is the crack that let the light of life shines through. That silent moment we feel an need to fill, the footsteps we take while we think of some other place, the smile we miss when we are looking the other way. No. Take a pause and realize the moment Michelle. Come up for a breath for crying out loud! Allow yourself to surrender your immediate “needs”, wants and feelings. Don’t worry about what you will get in return. Just realize that you are a playing in this rhythm of life and enjoy it.

It’s within the pause that the unimportant thoughts are sacrificed for a moment of clarity, of reality. So I pause, rather than react to a situation. I pause rather than get frustrated with another person. I pause to let go of feelings I don’t need to hold. I pause to make room to grow, to live, without pretense. What do I see? Life. When I let go, just for a moment, to the overwhelming power of doing I can enjoy what is actually happening.

In gratitude,

🙂 Coach M
