As the first week of 2017 comes to a close we are seeing rainfall in the east bay like we have not seen in some time. YAY! This welcome wet brings some extra dynamics to class, so make sure you are ready for the elements as we go into this second wet week! It’s smart to bring a towel for your car after class, and possibly a change of shoes for the ride home. As far as workout shoes go, those that have more grip are good, but beware of training in trail shoes. A cross training shoe that is water resistant is ideal. I LOVE my Reebok all terrain shoes, I go through a puddle and they have drained out before my foot hits the ground. My foot does get wet, but with the right socks I’m still good to go with no chafing or blisters to show for it. We have cover at all locations, but the rain presents other challenges like slick surfaces and wet mats. It’s always good to be prepared with a positive attitude, so let the kid in you come out and get a little wet at class. You may just love it!
This article is helpful for how to run in the rain, it also applies to rainy day classes.
