Take a trip down memory lane, to your lemonade stand days, with this bright, refreshing Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie.  Only this time, you’re getting a whole lot more than sugar and water.  Our vibrant, flavorful smoothie is packed with sweetness (from fruit), vitamin C (from strawberries), dietary fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids (from flax or chia seeds).  Here’s to smoothies, summer and your health!

STRAWBERRY LEMONADE SMOOTHIE

Vegan, dairy free, gluten free

Recipe by Jentry Lee Hull adapted from Blissful Basil

Yields 1 generous smoothie

SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups plant milk
  • 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries (raspberries work well, too)
  • 1 medium banana
  • Juice from one large lemon or 2 small
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 medjool date, optional (for enhanced sweetness)
  • 1 Tbsp. nut butter, optional
  • 1 Tbsp. ground flax seeds or chia seeds

SMOOTHIE METHOD

  • In a high-powered blender, combine all ingredients and blend until creamy and smooth.
  • To thicken, add more frozen berries. To thin, add more plant milk.
