While it is true that many of us have an inherited slow metabolism, there are a few sure fire ways to kick that engine into another gear. Enjoy these metabolism boosting tips from Coach Michelle

Build Muscle: The more muscle mass you have, the more you burn. Even at rest muscle burns calories while fat does not. So grab those weights at least 2 times a week for a metabolic boost!

Balance Omegas: Most of us get way too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3 or 9! Omega 3’s balance blood sugar and reduce inflammation, which both help regulate metabolism. Hemp seeds have the perfect balance of 3-6-9 Omegas for the human body. Sprinkle them on salads, throw them in a smoothie or garnish your soup with these little hearts of perfection!

Watch for sneaky labeling of Trans Fats: These little buggers are not welcome in your strong awesome body. Trans fat binds to fat and liver cells slowing down your metabolism, and can also lead to insulin resistance and inflammation.

Don’t Starve yourself: Not eating when you are hungry is one of the worst things you can do to your metabolism, especially if you workout. This puts your body into a holding pattern which boosts fat storage. Get at least enough food to cover your RMR (resting metabolic rate) to prevent your body from shutting down the burn! Calculate your RMR HERE. 

Go Green: Green Tea has an active ingredient called catechin, which is thought to boost metabolism by improving fat oxidation and thermogenesis. According to a recent study, you can drink a whopping 5  8oz glasses per day…but i would suggest most of them be decaf!

SLEEP: This component is critical for whole health. Just missing one night of sleep reeks havoc on your system. A solid 8 hours per night is your ticket to a hefty metabolic charge up!
